CALDWELL COUNTY, N.C. (WBTV) - An 18-year-old was killed in a shooting in Caldwell County Tuesday afternoon.
The Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office says no one has been charged at this time.
The incident happened around 11:30 a.m. at the Market Basket store on 321 A in Sawmills. Deputies were dispatched to an incomplete 911 call at the store.
Officials said two people were taken to an area hospital and one was in critical condition, and later died.

A coronavirus-associated death was reported Tuesday (December 29) by Catawba County Public Health. There have been 151 virus-related fatalities since the start of the pandemic. 116 new cases of COVID-19 were reported Tuesday in Catawba County, bringing the total to 11,159. A pandemic-high of 106 people were hospitalized in Catawba County.
Seven COVID-19-associated deaths were reported Tuesday in Caldwell County, increasing the total to 76. All seven patients were hospitalized, and six were reported to have underlying health conditions. Three patients were between the ages of 65 and 74, and the others were over the age of 75. 122 new cases of the coronavirus were reported in Caldwell County Tuesday, increasing the total to 5,612. There were 61 people hospitalized.
