FAM refers match fixing concerns to ACB for investigations

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost) The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) says it will refer for investigations to the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) allegations of corruption and match fixing in Malawi football as alleged by suspended referee Arthur Chilimba.
Chilimba who was slapped with three-year ban for soliciting funds has been in the news this week for stating he would hold a media briefing meant to reveal culprits of match fixing.
But FAM has in a statement said it held a meeting with the referee yesterday where he presented the claims.

FDH Bank Plc has renewed its partnership with Football Association of Malawi (FAM) by doubling the sponsorship amount from K60 million to K120 million translating to K360 million for the next 3 years (2021 – 2024).
FDH Bank Plc has been sponsoring the National Soccer Team since partnering with FAM in August 2016.

Speaking during the contract renewal at Mount Soche Hotel in Blantyre, FDH Bank Plc Deputy Managing Director George Chitera said that as a bank, they have seen fruits of the initial investment over the years including the performance of the team at Cosafa tournament in South Africa and the scorching of the Zebras of Botswana to qualify for World Cup group stage in 2018.
After one year without action, Airtel Top 8 Cup competition is finally back with a lucrative K234 million three-year sponsorship which will be divided into K78 million sponsorship per season from K66 million.
Breaking the news on Wednesday at Ryalls Hotel in Blantyre Airtel Malawi Plc Managing Director, Charles Kamoto said the company have decided to bring back the competition as they aim to help in promoting football in the country.

Kamoto further expressed confident that the competition will add value to the local elite teams in as far as competitiveness is concerned as teams will be fight hard to finish in top 8 in the TNM Super League at the same time giving players opportunity to showcase their talents and open doors for Malawi national team call ups.
