Visiting restrictions to maternity hospitals should be risk assessed to show how they are protecting women and staff, maternity advocates have said.
The call comes as a number of hospitals eased some restrictions in the last few days, but others have made no change. This only deepens the inequity of access, advocates say, as they demanded the science behind these changes be made public.

TWO MEN HAVE been killed in separate road crashes overnight.
A man his 30s died and another was taken to hospital following a single-vehicle collision near Carraroe in Co Galway at around 3:50am this morning.
Gardaí in Salthill and emergency services attended the scene and the driver of the car was pronounced dead a short time later.

A MAN aged in his 30s has died after a tragic fatal crash in Co Galway last night.
One other man, who was a passenger of the car driven by the man pronounced dead, was rushed to hospital for care.

Gardai and emergency services rushed to the scene at Carraroe, Co Galway at around 3:49am this morning.
They discovered a tragic single road traffic collision on a minor road in the area.

Galway Bay FM Newsroom – Gardaí at Salthill are appealing for witnesses following a fatal traffic collision in Carraroe this morning.
The single car collision happened on a minor road near Carraroe just after 3:45 this morning.
Another man in his 30s who was a passenger is being treated for non life-threatening injuries at Galway University Hospital.
The road is currently closed with local diversions in place and Garda investigators will examine the crash site this morning.
