China, India agree to diplomatic hotline after deadly clash

Feb. 26 (UPI) China and India agreed to establish a hotline between their top diplomats, but reports indicate differing views prevailed over the issue of disputed areas.
According to statements released Friday by both governments, Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Chinese Foreign Minister Want Yi agreed to a direct telephone line for emergency use to guarantee timely communication, The Hindu reported.

In a first, China reveals names of PLA troops killed in Galwan clash
China has officially confirmed that Peopleâs Liberation Army (PLA) troops were killed in clash with Indian soldiers in Galwan valley of Ladakh last year. According to a Global Times report, five frontier officers and soldiers stationed in the Karakoram Mountains were killed in the June 2020 clash.Â
The report said that they have been recognised by the Central Military Commission of China (CMC) for defending national sovereignty and territorial integrity . Chinese top military body Central Military Commission awarded Qi Fabao, the regimental commander from the PLA Xinjiang Military Command, the title of Hero regimental commander for defending the border, Chen Hongjun with Hero to defend the border, and awarded first-class merit to Chen Xiangrong, Xiao Siyuan and Wang Zhuoran.
