Mother seeks charges after prosecutor deems shooting justified and last updated 2020-12-21 22:20:25-05 BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — The Calhoun County Prosecutor announced Monday no charges will be filed against the officers who used deadly force while trying to perform a traffic stop on September 5th. Officers with the Battle Creek Police Department say they observed 22-year-old Andrew Blowers driving at a high rate of speed through a residential neighborhood near Main Street in Battle Creek. Officers suspected Blowers was under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The vehicle was weaving to the extent of driving through someone s yard on Warren. Police say Blowers had also run multiple stop signs.

BCPD Officers Cleared Two Battle Creek Police Department Officers have been cleared by the Calhoun County Prosecutor’s Office, following an incident on September 5th, which left one man dead. The Office of Prosecuting Attorney, David Gilbert summed up the case, in a release on Monday. Around midnight on September 5th, 2020, Battle Creek Police Department Officers Ryan O’Connell, Patrick Herson and Steven Herbstreith were involved in a high speed chase in Calhoun County with a Chevy Trailblazer being driven by Andrew Charles Blowers. They were joined in this pursuit by Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Hatch and the initial chase ended with Mr. Blowers losing control of his vehicle. The vehicle left the roadway, spinning backward into trees off Logistics Drive.

Deadly Albion Shooting Believed To Be Self Defense A man was shot and killed and a woman injured in a confrontation believed to domestically motivated. A 22-year-old man was killed in a fatal shooting early Saturday morning following what the Albion Department of Public Safety described as a domestic confrontation. Director of Albion Public Safety Scott Kipp said it appears the man who was shot and killed was attempting to kick in the door of his former girlfriend s apartment, according to the Battle Creek Enquirer. The 22-year-old man was shot by another man already inside the apartment. Officers were first called to the apartment located in the 100 block of West Porter Street at 8:10 a.m. Saturday for a man attempting to kick the apartment door open. The man fled prior to law enforcement arrival. Less than 30 minutes later the man returned with a gun, though is not believed to have fired the weapon according to investigators.
