Sgt. Katrina Herrington of the Calhoun County Sheriff s Office said it was in the noon hour Jan. 23 when police responded to a home on the 3900 block of 3.5 Mile Road. There they found a black lab puppy, named Luna, dead. Police believe she had been attacked with a chainsaw. Herrington said the suspect, Erik Taylor, confessed to Luna s death. Taylor faces a single charge, killing or torturing an animal. Court records show the home on 3.5 Mile as the suspect s address. Taylor has been jailed since that day, and was given a $20,000 bond.

The 18-year-old Marshall man was driving near 19 Mile Road and F Drive S around 7:30 p.m., Jan. 28, when his vehicle left the road and hit a tree, the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office said. The driver was unconscious and pinned in the vehicle, police said. He was cut out of the car and taken by helicopter to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo, where he is in serious condition, police said.

MARSHALL TOWNSHIP, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – A Marshall teenager was flown to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo on Thursday night after his vehicle crashed into a tree in Calhoun County. The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department says the crash happened at about 7:30 p.m. in the area of 19 Mile Road and F Drive South in Marshall Township. Deputies found the vehicle was in the ditch and had struck a tree. The 18-year-old driver was found pinned in the vehicle and unconscious. Firefighters from the Homer and Fredonia Township Fire Departments were able to free the youngster who was then flown out.
