Tuscaloosa: Alabama football has developed a reputation for drawing big crowds to its A-Day spring football game, but even at limited capacity, the 2021 game earned a distinction. Saturday’s attendance of 47,218 is the highest at any U.S. sporting event since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to Yahoo! Sports. With demand down, Cashman Center vaccine site to close May 5
April 16, 2021 GMT
LAS VEGAS (AP) Citing a drop in requests for COVID-19 vaccine appointment, health officials in Las Vegas say they’ll close the mass vaccination center at Cashman Center on May 5.
Vaccines will continue to be administered at the Las Vegas Convention Center and other sites in the metro area, Southern Nevada Health District and Clark County officials said Thursday.
Incident Commander Greg Cassell of the health district said the number of daily vaccinations at Cashman, a former convention venue, has dropped from 7,700 on April 13 to 2,000 on Thursday.
Staff at the Cashman site will be transferred to the Las Vegas Convention Center or placed on so-called strike teams that conduct vaccinations for harder-to-reach populations in neighborhoods.
