The Burnettsville man who caused a Sept. 21, 2019 accident in Royal Center where his passenger’s leg was severed was found guilty of criminal recklessness, a Class B misdemeanor.
Brady Riley, 20, was sentenced Thursday to 180 days in Cass County Jail by Cass Circuit Court Judge Stephen Kitts.
Kitts found him guilty during a trial before the sentencing and also set Jan. 28 as a restitution hearing for Riley.
Cass County Sheriff’s Deputies took Riley into custody after the sentencing.
Riley’s attorney, Andrew Achey, said he plans to file an appeal and disagreed with what the official records from police state.

CASS COUNTY, MI A Kalamazoo man was sentenced Friday, Dec. 18, to a minimum of 43 years in prison for the January killing of 40-year-old Dowagiac resident Michael Collins.
Justin Robert-Gabriel Carlton, 41, pleaded guilty in October to one count of second-degree murder for his role in the Jan. 17 slaying.
