Authorities are investigating the cause of a man s death behind bars Friday evening.

FARGO An inmate at the Cass County Jail has died after an apparent medical emergency.
According to a release from the Cass County Sheriff s Office, deputies were conducting evening meal service around 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 18, when they noticed an inmate suffering from what appeared to be a medical emergency.
Deputies began life-saving measures, and emergency responders were paged to the scene. However, the 41-year-old man died.
The man s identity was not released Friday, as family members are still being notified. The inmate s name is expected to be released Saturday, the sheriff s office said.

The deceased, 41-year-old Luke Laducer, was booked into the jail at approximately 3 a.m. Friday morning. During the 5 p.m. meal service, deputies noticed that Laducer was suffering from a medical emergency, a news release from the Cass County Sheriff s Office said.
The death remains under investigation by the Cass County Sheriff s Office, Cass County Coroner s Office and North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
