The Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office was called to 407 Clay Street in Whittemore on Sunday regarding a possible animal neglect investigation. When officers arrived on scene at the residence, they discovered what they perceived to be a potential concern of officer safety.
The Sheriff’s Office called in the Multi Area Response Team or MART to assist with the ongoing animal neglect investigation. Authorities stress that there is no immediate concern of public safety. Authorities will not release any further information regarding the case.

ALGONA The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation received a request to assist the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office regarding a welfare check associated with an animal neglect investigation in Whittemore on Monday.
The DCI Crime Scene Team assisted at a residence at 407 Clay St. after officers secured the scene. The DCI continues to assist in the ongoing investigation. No further details about the incident were provided in a news release Tuesday.

ALGONA, Iowa – A Kossuth County man will spend decades behind bars for killing his live-in girlfriend.
Chad David Dietrick, 48 of Lakota, was sentenced Friday to up to 50 years in prison and ordered to pay $150,000 in restitution to the heirs of his victim, Krista Hesebeck.
The Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office says Dietrick stabbed Hesebeck to death on March 3, 2018. Deputies found Hesebeck’s body at Dietrick’s home after responding to a reported domestic dispute. Authorities say Hesebeck was stabbed multiple times in her upper body.
