CLEVELAND The inaugural meeting of the new Ohio Black Judges Association Inc. will take place virtually at 7 p.m. today.
The group’s membership consists of all of the elected judicial officers serving on the bench in Ohio, as well as appointed magistrates and others performing judicial functions.
Officers and executive committee members will be sworn in during the inaugural event by Ohio Supreme Court Associate Justice Melody Stewart. Chief Justice Maureen O’Connor will give remarks, as will top Black legislative leaders.
The assemblage will hear from U.S. Rep. Joyce Beatty, Congressional Black Caucus chair, and state Rep. Thomas West, Ohio Legislative Black Caucus president.

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - The bench trial for a Cleveland police officer charged with domestic violence began Wednesday in front of Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas Judge Cassandra Collier-Williams.
Officer Stevie Green Jr. was arrested by Lakewood police on Oct. 11, 2019.
As a result of the arrest, Green, 28, was relieved from duty on Oct. 14, 2019 and was suspended without pay during the investigation.
Green’s most recent assignment was a patrol officer in the Third District.

CLEVELAND, Ohio The Ohio Supreme Court on Friday rejected an appeal by a man challenging a Cuyahoga County judge’s order forcing him to appear for an in-person court proceeding during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court Judge Cassandra Collier-Williams ordered Michael Paluscsak to attend his Oct. 1 deposition in-person rather than allowing him to appear remotely via Zoom as part of a lawsuit where he and a debt collector sued each other in 2017 over a $1,175 medical debt he owed St. Vincent Charity Medical Center.

CLEVELAND, Ohio A former Cuyahoga County corrections officer will spend 30 days in jail for failing to seek medical attention for a dying inmate and then falsified jail records to cover up that he failed to make required rounds in the hours the inmate lay dying.
