Bahrain approves emergency use of Sputnik vaccine
MANAMA, February 10, 2021 Bahrain today approved the emergency use of the Sputnik V vaccine, produced by the Jamalaya National Center for Epidemiological and Microbiology Research of the Ministry of Health of Russia. The decision to authorise the Sputnik V vaccine was based on data provided by the manufacturing company, results of an expanded study, and a process of review and evaluation of effectiveness of data conducted by the Kingdom’s National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA), said a Bahrain News Agency report. The NHRA also reviewed and evaluated the safety of the vaccine, demonstrated by clinical trials and studies, as well as verified the quality of the vaccine by reviewing scientific data showing the quality of manufacturing and the stability of the product.

Bahrain receives first batch of Covishield vaccine from India
MANAMA, January 28, 2021 Bahrain today (January 28) received its first batch of the Covishield - AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine, manufactured in India by the Serum Institute of India under the name Covishield. The Covishield-AstraZeneca vaccine, produced by AstraZeneca in cooperation with the University of Oxford, and manufactured by the Serum Institute of India, has been approved for emergency use by the Kingdom’s National Health Regulatory Authority. BNA. Confirming this, Minister of Health Faeqa Saeed Al Saleh, said the first batch of the Covishield-AstraZeneca vaccine was delivered today by the Indian Ambassador to Bahrain, Piyush Shrivastav, at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre.
Cairo: An ongoing vaccination campaign against COVID-19 in Bahrain is likely to take up to 300 days for a total of 1.5 million people in the country, according to a media report.
Bahrain last week launched a vaccination campaign against the disease for free for its citizens and foreign residents.
Around 679,000 expatriates and 712,000 Bahrainis aged over 18 are slated to get the vaccine, Akhbar Al Khaleej newspaper has reported.
Health authorities in Bahrain have said that 27 medical centres will be set up to provide vaccination for a maximum of 10,000 persons per day.
Bahrain, a country of around 1.7 million population, so far has recorded 90,450 virus cases and 350 related fatalities. Last week, the Kingdom’s National Health Regulatory Authority announced approving the registration of a vaccine against COVID-19 developed by the Chinese pharmaceutical giant Sinopharm.
