I’ve enjoyed reading about the days of yore when Sudbury’s downtown was a thriving place and I agree with Christian Pelletier in his impassioned letter of his vision for downtown. Downtowns are the heart of any city – specialty shops, restaurants, cafes, sports bars, commercial businesses, book stores, live theatre. Sure, big box stores have driven business from the core, but if the plan is to completely destroy the lifeblood of a city, by all means, build a major event centre away from the hub and build it near a dump at the city’s extreme edge. This Kingsway Entertainment District process has been a sham from the beginning and has been directed by a few individuals with an interest in foisting off a useless piece of property on a gullible city mayor and council.
