Authorities Seeking information following Dickinson Memorial bomb threat

ABC 10/CW5 A bomb threat at an Iron Mountain hospital last night has police looking for answers. The Iron Mountain Police Department said the Dickinson County Healthcare System  was locked down from about 8:40 p.m. to around 2 this morning. Police did not indicate how the threat was delivered. Marquette Police Department’s explosive detection K-9 unit helped to clear the scene. The police are continuing to investigate this incident. Contact the Iron Mountain Police Department at (906)774-1234 with any information. The Michigan State Police, Iron Mountain Fire Department, Dickinson County Sheriff and Kingsford Public Safety Department assisted at the scene.

Upper Peninsula hospital reopens after bomb threat forces overnight lockdown Updated 11:31 AM; IRON MOUNTAIN, MI – An Upper Peninsula hospital was locked down for several hours on Monday after someone disguising their voice called in a bomb threat. According to Director of Police and Fire Services Edwin Mattson, the threat was reported at Dickinson County Healthcare System at 1721 S. Stephenson Avenue in Iron Mountain at 8:40 p.m. The Iron Mountain police and fire department responded to the scene along with the Dickinson County Sheriff, Michigan State Police, Kingsford Public Safety Department and the Marquette County Sheriff’s Department who brought an explosive detection K-9 to the scene.

Fire breaks out at Kingsford manufacturing facility, contained by employees

ABC 10/CW5 KINGSFORD Quick thinking employees contained a fire at a Kingsford manufacturing facility Thursday. The Kingsford Public Safety Department was called to Northwoods Manufacturing at about 7 a.m. Employees had the fire contained using fire extinguishers by the time first responders arrived, according to a Kingsford Public Safety press release. The fire started in an exhaust stack in the painting booth at the plant. A minimal amount of damage was reported. A buildup of material from the painting process is believed to burned inside the structure.
