KPS responds to fire alarm | News, Sports, Jobs

Mar 1, 2021 KINGSFORD Kingsford Public Safety was alerted at 5:31 p.m. Friday to a fire alarm at the Iron Mountain-Kingsford Community Federal Credit Union, 400 S. Carpenter Ave., Iron Mountain. Officers arrived at 5:34 p.m. to find an alarm had been activated due to a malfunctioning light fixture. It was determined there was no fire. The light was removed from the fixture. Fire breaks out at Kingsford manufacturing facility, contained by employees

ABC 10/CW5 KINGSFORD Quick thinking employees contained a fire at a Kingsford manufacturing facility Thursday. The Kingsford Public Safety Department was called to Northwoods Manufacturing at about 7 a.m. Employees had the fire contained using fire extinguishers by the time first responders arrived, according to a Kingsford Public Safety press release. The fire started in an exhaust stack in the painting booth at the plant. A minimal amount of damage was reported. A buildup of material from the painting process is believed to burned inside the structure.

Feb 5, 2021 IRON MOUNTAIN A 28-year-old man was arrested Wednesday morning after a high-speed chase that began in Florence, Wis., and ended with the driver barricaded in an Iron Mountain residence. The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office was notified about 10:38 p.m. Tuesday that the Florence County sheriff’s deputies was pursuing a 2002 Jeep Liberty headed for the Michigan-Wisconsin border, according to a news release from the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office. Iron Mountain deputies deployed stop sticks at the state line on U.S. 2 near the M-95 junction. The Jeep ran over the stop sticks and hit a patrol vehicle, damaging it enough it had to be towed, the release stated.

Kingsford officials congratulate Edlebeck, retiring after 34 years of service to city | News, Sports, Jobs

ANTHONY EDLEBECK KINGSFORD Kingsford City Council members said goodbye and expressed appreciation to City Manager Anthony Edlebeck at Monday’s meeting. Edlebeck, who has been with the city for 34 years including more than nine as city manager, is retiring Friday. Assistant City Manager Mike Stelmaszek, who will replace Edlebeck, said they had hoped to have the meeting in person to say goodbye. Edlebeck was presented with an engraved gold pocket watch. “I wasn’t expecting we would be having my last meeting on Zoom,” Edlebeck said. “I don’t know where the years went.” “There was so much we accomplished as a team weather patterns, tornados, methane. The residents should be very proud. Thank you to the council and associates. I couldn’t have done it without the people involved.”
