SEATTLE Film crews were spotted Monday in Seattle s Westlake Center shooting a new HBO movie called Kimi. News of the new feature film has people wondering where the local film industry is going.
King County is working to become a competitive region for filmmaking once again. In the 1990s, Seattle was a popular spot, featuring films like Sleepless in Seattle, and iconic locations like Gas Works Park were featured in the hit movie 10 Things I Hate About you.

New Steven Soderbergh movie being filmed in Seattle KIRO 7 News Staff
Director Steven Soderbergh is shooting a thriller about a tech worker called “KIMI.”
He’s the director behind such movies as “Erin Brockovich,” “Oceans 11” and “Contagion.”
According to the Downtown Seattle Association, over the next few days, you’ll see production crews near Westlake Center.
It’s expected that as many as 1,500 actors and extras will be in the area.
“It’s a fantastic downtown. I completely understand why they’d want to use it as a film backdrop,” said Peter Korn of Seattle.

On Tuesday afternoon King County Executive Dow Constantine used his annual State of the County address to deliver some good news to a region struggling to find housing, pay rent, secure a decent job, escape grinding and isolating work, combat a deadly respiratory virus, and maybe hug a far-flung relative at some point.
