The authorities will speed up the RT-PCR testing in these institutions. The decision comes as eight more students tested positive for the virus at IIT-Madras. The number rose after 141 students were tested on Tuesday. As many as 539 samples were taken on Monday alone, which includes workers in addition to students.

With schools still closed in the state following the lockdown, the Education Minister has announced the cancellation of the examinations. As for the private schools, the Education Minister has left the decision with the school administration. Not allowing for the schools to reopen just yet, the minister has given the private schools the option to either cancel the half yearly examinations or conduct them online.

104 IIT-Madras Students Test Positive For Corona Virus Published by GulteDesk December 15, 2020 More than 100 students of IIT Madras have tested positive for Coronavirus. With this massive outbreak, the Indian Institute of Technology-Madras campus has shut down all the departments and labs on the premises. All the 104 students and others who contracted the disease have undergone tests at King’s Institute of Preventive Medicine and Research, Tamil Nadu and they are said to be doing fine. Though the results showed a 20% positivity rate, there is nothing much to worry as all measures are being taken to check Covid-19 spread, said Health Secretary J Radhakrishnan.
