Rory McIlroy searching for old form at Wells Fargo Championship
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Rory McIlroy is still a fan favorite, and often THE fan favorite.
He joined Raymond Jin, a First Tee participant and Wells Fargo Succeeding Together essay contest winner who chose him over everyone else in the field, at the Wells Fargo Championship pro-am on Wednesday. And they played well, with McIlroy carding four birdies over nine holes.
As for official results, though, McIlroy has been searching.

“Yeah, I made a couple birdies, played OK,” he said Wednesday. “They don t really count in pro‑ams. I feel better about my game than I did flying home from Augusta on Friday night, put it that way.”

Rory McIlroy returned to the site of his first PGA Tour victory and made it clear that he is more interested in creating his place in history than chasing Saudi-backed money in a proposed super league.
Justin Thomas wasn t far behind in that line of thinking.

Former world number one Rory McIlroy could hardly have picked a better place than Quail Hollow as he bids to rediscover his “mojo”.
McIlroy is seeking an eighth top-10 finish in 10 appearances in the Wells Fargo Championship, an event which provided his first PGA Tour title in 2010 and another in 2015 following a course-record 61 in round three.
