Ford Ranger Filled with Weed Floated Across the Rio Grande   EDINBURG, TX – On Thursday, Rio Grande Valley Border Patrol agents seized approximately 60 pounds of cocaine and nearly 900 pounds of marijuana. Brownsville Border Patrol Station agents working near Brownsville, TX, observed a white Ford Ranger driving away from banks of the Rio Grande. As agents responded to the area, the vehicle changed direction and headed back towards the Rio Grande. Smugglers then attempted to load the vehicle onto a makeshift raft which was used to bring the vehicle into the United States. The vehicle became stuck on the riverbank during the process of loading it onto the raft. The driver was seen jumping into the river and fleeing into Mexico.  Agents extracted 32 bundles of marijuana with a weight of approximately 730 pounds.  The seized marijuana is valued at over $500K.

Violent Gang Members Arrested as Illegal Alien Surge Continues   EDINBURG, TX – Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol agents arrested two illegal aliens with ties to street gangs over the weekend, and a man with an active warrant for sexual assault in New Jersey. On Saturday, March 6, 2021, McAllen Border Patrol agents working near Hidalgo, TX arrested a Honduran adult male shortly after illegally entering the United States. During processing, record checks identified the man as an MS-13 gang member. Sunday morning, agents from the Kingsville Border Patrol Station apprehended a group of 29 illegal aliens attempting to circumvent the checkpoint near Sarita, TX. Record checks for a Salvadoran national revealed him to being an active member of the 18th Street Gang.
