On July 15 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Emma Webb Park shelter located at 101 E Highland Ave, the City of Kinston, Kinston Teens, and Kinston/Lenoir Parks & Recreation will host a community workshop at Emma Webb Park. Design Workshop, a Raleigh-based design firm, will guide attendees through different visioning activities to gather community input on the future of the park.
Emma Webb Park has been an important community gathering place for almost 90 years.
The City of Kinston, Kinston Teens, Kinston/Lenoir Parks & Recreation, Design Workshop, and the American Flood Coalition will host a community workshop at the picnic shelter in Emma Webb Park to gather input from residents as to how they would like to see the park improve.

SHIIP, the Seniors’ Health Insurance Information Program, is a division of the NC Department of Insurance that offers free, objective information about Medicare, Medicare supplements, Medicare Advantage plans, Medicare prescription drug plans, Medicare fraud and abuse, and long-term care insurance.
SHIIP will be conducting a free “ Medicare 101” seminar open to anyone new to Medicare or interested in learning more about Medicare. The seminar will include a question and answer session.

The Lenoir County Board of Elections has released several candidate filings for the Nov. 2 Municipal Elections. The deadline for all candidates is July 16 by noon.
The candidates that have already filed, as of July 6, for Lenoir County according to the candidate detail list released by the LCBE are as follows:
Dontario “Don” Hardy, mayor
Gwendolyn Woods, Kinston city council
Roger Miles, La Grange board of commissioners
The three municipalities in Lenoir County are Kinston, La Grange and Pink Hill; the remaining seats available are two in both Pink Hill and La Grange, according to a release from the LCBE.
