LISBON A Wellsville village councilman will run as a Republican in the next primary.
Columbiana County Board of Elections Director Kim Fusco told the board last week that Randall Allmon filed a declaration of intent to change political party affiliation.
Fusco said Allmon last voted in 2017 as a Democrat and wants to run for council as a Republican in the next primary.
The political change affiliation is permanent for the next 10 years.
Fusco also announced the following filing deadlines for the May primary:
Jan. 29 – 2020 annual campaign finance reports due.
Feb. 3 – primary candidates.
May 3 is the deadline for independent candidates for the general election.

LISBON Votes cast in future elections in Columbiana County will continue to be tabulated on equipment provided by a nationally known company.
The Columbiana County Board of Elections decided to go with Elections Systems & Software (ES&S) as voting equipment vendor.
The Nebraska-based company has been providing voting equipment to the county board of elections since 2006.
“We have been having successful, fair and accurate elections with this company,” Deputy Director Bryce Miner said.
He added that the ES&S bid was competitive with the equipment being provided and that the company will bring the county up to the new standards of security points moving forward.
