The Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation team in Kimberley summoned a 53-year-old company Director on Wednesday, 26 May 2021 for contravention of the Tax Administration Act.
It is alleged that during 2018 and 2019, a company called Batsha Ba Tirong Financial Management Pty (Ltd) t/a Batsha Ba Tirong Security Services submitted fraudulent IRP5 certificates to South African Revenue Service (SARS) claiming company income tax returns. The South African Revenue Service suffered a total loss of R21 million.

A 36-year-old prosecutor in the Northern Cape is serving time in prison after he was slapped with a four-year sentence.
The Hawks provincial spokesperson, Nomthandazo Mnisi, says Anele Khohlani was previously sentenced to pay a fine of R60 000 or face three years in prison after he was found guilty of corruption in the Kimberley Magistrate s Court in 2019 for accepting a bribe of R1 500.
However, he had sought remedial action against his sentencing but the High Court in the province dismissed his appeal and slapped him with a six-year prison term.
In its ruling, the High Court sentenced Khohlani to six years imprisonment of which two years are suspended for the period of five years on condition that he is not found guilty of corruption during the period of suspension.
