Cuban authorities report 653 new Covid-19 cases and two deaths
Havana, Feb 8 (Prensa Latina) Cuban health authorities on Monday reported 653 new Covid-19 cases and two deaths due to complications associated with the disease in the last 24 hours.
With these data, the total number of contagions in Cuba since March 2020 has increased to 33,484, and the death toll rose to 240, Dr. Francisco Duran, national director of Epidemiology at the Cuban Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP), said at his regular press conference.
The specialist noted that 5,595 patients remain hospitalized nationwide.
On Sunday, Cuban laboratories made 18,981 PCR tests in real time to detect the presence of the coronavirus, totaling 2,030,386 samples so far.
Cuba will charge US$65, or its equivalent in any other freely convertible currency, per PCR for tourists who wish to extend their stay on the island, reported the Gaviota website.

He added that 5,544 patients were admitted to hospitals nationwide and the death toll rose to 229.
The total number of contagions in Cuba since March 2020 increased to 31,190.

HAVANA, Feb. 2 (Xinhua) Cuba on Tuesday reported over 1,000 new daily cases of novel coronavirus infection for a second time in less than a week, after tests detected 1,044 new cases.
According to the latest report from the Ministry of Public Health, a total of 28,636 people have tested positive for COVID-19, 22,921 have recovered and 218 people have died from the disease, two in the past day.
Of all new cases registered, 483 were reported in Havana, the epicenter of the COVID-19 epidemic in the Caribbean nation, followed by the eastern provinces of Santiago de Cuba and Guantanamo.
