Police, union leaders discuss proposed parade route
Protesting farm unions have welcomed the Supreme Court’s refusal to stop the proposed tractor parade on Republic Day, leaving it to the Delhi Police to decide on whether to grant permission for it.
“This is a win for the farmers,” said Rashtriya Kisan Mahasangh spokesperson Abhimanyu Kohar. “In this decision, by asking the Delhi Police to withdraw [their application for an injunction against the parade], I think that in one way, the Supreme Court is saying that this is the fundamental and constitutional right of the farmers to stage a peaceful protest, and it is now up to the government to decide.” He was speaking just before entering Vigyan

New Delhi: The 10th round of dialogue between the government and farmers’ representatives began Wednesday here in the national capital amid expectations of a solution to end the deadlock as the protest by the farmers on the Delhi borders continued for the 56th day.
However, there is no signal from both sides so far indicating any fruitful decision to end the protest as farmers are still sticking to their demands on withdrawal of three contentious farm laws and guarantee on Minimum Support Price (MSP), and the government is adamant not to repeal the agriculture acts enacted in September during Monsoon Session of Parliament last year.

New Delhi [India], January 20 (ANI): Farmers leaders on Wednesday said they would consider the Centre s proposal to put on hold farm laws for over one year and to form a committee of government and farmer representatives to discuss the laws clause wise and respond at the next meeting on January 22.
The tenth round of talks between farmer unions and the Central government over the three farm laws concluded at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. The next round of the meeting will take place on January 22.

New Delhi [India], January 19 (ANI): Farmer leaders on Tuesday after a meeting with top police officials of Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana said they are standing firm on their decision to go ahead with their tractor rally inside Delhi on Republic Day.
Police top brass who attended the meeting are believed to have told the farmer leaders that they will rethink their decision about the decision of the farmers to hold the tractor rally in Delhi on January 26. Another meeting to discuss the same is likely to be held in a day or two.
