Province invests in rural communities SHARE ON: (supplied by Pixabay) The province is investing $200-million in rural communities throughout Ontario.  Premier Doug Ford made the announcement at the Rural Ontario Municipal Association’s conference this morning.  The funding will support 424 small, rural, and Northern Ontario communities build and repair roads and bridges, and water and wastewater plants.  Ford says these projects will support local businesses and create local jobs. “COVID-19 has created challenges for everyone, including our municipal partners,” said Laurie Scott, Minister of Infrastructure. “By making this stable, predictable investment, our government is not only improving critical infrastructure, we are strengthening local economies, creating jobs and laying the foundation for our long-term recovery.”

Article content County of Renfrew Warden Debbie Robinson has been acclaimed as the 2021 chairwoman of the Eastern Ontario Wardens’ Caucus (EOWC). The announcement comes out of the EOWC’s annual inaugural meeting held last week at which Liz Danielsen, Warden of the County of Haliburton and Deputy Mayor of the Township of Algonquin Highlands, was appointed as vice-chairwoman, also by acclamation. South Algonquin debates modifying its Strategic Plan | Bancroft this Week

November 12, 2020 By Mike Riley South Algonquin Township council discussed its strategic plan during their council meeting on Nov. 4. Their current plan was drafted in 2016, and the items to be focused on over the next year will be the implementation of a broadband and asset management program, updating the township website, implementing a modernization study and branding plan and a community safety and well-being plan. While the plan was initially set to be updated in 2021, that update could be deferred until 2022 or 2023, when a new council is voted in, in South Algonquin Township. Holly Hayes, the clerk and treasurer for South Algonquin Township, told council that the gist of her report was that when the strategic plan was written in 2016, the intention was that it would go from 2016 to 2021.
