As stakeholders continue to debate whether the FCC should agree to release funding to some of the biggest winners in the recent Rural Digital Opportunity Fund (RDOF) auction, one of those big winners continues to make progress on rural broadband buildouts funded in part, through a previous federal program.
Nextlink, which won $281 million in the 2018 Connect America Fund II (CAF II) auction and was the winning bidder for $429 million of funding in the RDOF auction, said yesterday that it will use antennas from Alpha Wireless for CAF II deployments of fixed wireless equipment in the CBRS band.

Just a few days ago, the Mississippi Legislature passed SB2798 by 119-3 in the House and 49-0 in the Senate to expand broadband by utilizing existing or future fiber lines built by Entergy and Mississippi Power. Our legislators are to be commended for this policy, the most aggressive since the Broadband Enabling Act in 2019.

COLUMBIA, Miss. (WDAM) - Mississippi Public Service Commission Chairman Dane Maxwell issued final documents to PearlComm LLC Monday.
Maxwell’s signature marks the allocation of $25.7 million from the Rural Digital Opportunity Fund.
The fund brings access to high-speed internet service to over 51,000 Pearl River Valley Electric Power Association members across 12 counties.
“It’s as big of a deal as providing power to them in 1938 when we were founded,” said Matthew Ware, Chief Executive Officer & General Manager of PRVEPA. “Now we’re giving them a new technology that I think will have the same implications to our membership as it did back then.”
