Feb112021, 3:56 pm Stating that “women have been hit the hardest by COVID,” the federal government unveiled today what it calls the “Feminist Response and Recovery Fund.” On Thursday, Maryam Monsef, Minister for Women and Gender Equality and Rural Economic Development, launched a new call for proposals through Women and Gender Equality Canada’s Women’s Program. The call, entitled “Feminist Response and Recovery Fund,” will provide $100 million for projects helping those in greatest need. The fund “will support local, regional, and national efforts to end violence against women and girls, improve women’s economic security and to increase the participation of women and girls in decision making roles,” said Monsef. ” Women have been hardest hit by COVID. Funding For Infrastructure Projects In St Martins And St Stephen

Investments from Ottawa and Fredericton for four infrastructure projects including the Vaughan Creek Bridge replacement in St. Martins and a combined sewer separation and utility renewal in St. Stephen. In Plaster Rock, funding will support the north lagoon decommissioning and collector sewer, while in New Maryland it will be used for the Sunrise wellfield development. “Investing in improved wastewater and drinking water facilities is an important part of delivering on our government’s priority to build vibrant and sustainable communities,” said Environment and Climate Change Minister Gary Crossman, who is also minister responsible for the Regional Development Corporation. “With projects like these, we are not only preserving public health and protecting the environment, we are also equipping these communities with the infrastructure they need for population growth and economic recovery.”

Women s organizations across the country provide vital services and support adapted to the individual realities of survivors of gender-based violence. The Government of Canada is committed to ensuring these organizations have the resources they need to continue their essential work. Today, Gudie Hutchings, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Women and Gender Equality and Rural Economic Development, announced an investment of over $4.76 million for ten projects that will address gender-based violence across Ontario.
