Gov Yahaya restates commitment to rural development as he commissioned 85-kilowatt mini grid – NTA ng – Breaking News, Nigeria, Africa, Worldwide

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya alongside the Managing Director of Rural Electrification Agency,  (REA) , Ahmed Salihijo Ahmed commissioned the 85-Kilowatt Isolated Solar Mini Grid Power Plant in Dakkiti community of Akko Local Government Area of the state with a call on the people of the area to own and protect the project for their own benefit. The project was delivered under the Federal Government’s Rural Electrification Fund (REF), being implemented by the Rural Electrification Agency. Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya noted that the project is in line with the REA’s mandate and the Federal Government’s next level Agenda to improve access to electricity by Nigerians, especially those living in rural communities and expressed the hope that such project will be extended to other parts of the State.

FG commissions 85KW solar power in Gombe village

He said the hybrid mini-grid with a total capacity of 85KW had 100 solar panels, a 96-battery energy storage system, 30 KVA generator and 4.5 kilometres of distribution lines. Governor Yahaya noted the advantages of the project to the community, stating that the benefit of constant electricity would increase socio-economic activities and well-being of the people of Dakkiti and its neighbourhood. He urged community members to adequately maintain the project and pay their bills to ensure sustainability.  

FG Steps Up Deployment of 19,000 Solar Homes Systems

By Emmanuel Addeh The federal government yesterday continued its ongoing deployment of 19,000 Solar Homes Systems (SHS), with the inauguration of an 85KWP Solar Hybrid Mini-grid in Dakiti, Akko Local Government of Gombe State. The power plant also consists of 100 solar panels, 96 batteries and over 4.5-kilometre distribution network cables and is expected to serve over 1500 people in the area with constant electricity. Speaking during the event, Managing Director of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), the implementing agency, Mr. Ahmad Salihijo, noted that the project has been successfully deployed under the First REF Call of the federal government’s Rural Electrification Fund (REF), an initiative designed to promote off-grid electrification and ensure that electricity is equitably distributed across Nigeria.
