Over 1.2 million more doses of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine arrive in HCM City
A total of 1,228,500 doses of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine arrived in Ho Chi Minh City on July 23 morning.
This is the fifth and also the biggest shipment of the deal to purchase 30 million doses signed between AstraZeneca Vietnam and the Vietnam Vaccine Joint Stock Company (VNVC) with support from the Ministry of Health.
To date, over 3.1 million doses of the contract have delivered to Vietnam. The amount accounted for approximately 37 percent of the AstraZeneca vaccine volume Vietnam has received, with the remainder coming from the COVAX Facility or donated by other countries.

One of the important parts of the agenda of the 15th National Assembly (NA)’s first session is the election and approval of 50 people to head state agencies in the 2021-2026 term.
NA’s General Secretary Bui Van Cuong said that most of the personnel introduced to these positions are re-elected.
These include President and Vice President. The two current positions President Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan were elected by the 14th NA last April.
Regarding the cabinet, Head of the NA Standing Committee s Board for Deputy Affairs Nguyen Thi Thanh said 27 people will be elected, including one PM, four Deputy PMs, 18 Ministers and 4 heads of ministerial-level agencies.

Over 425 million tonnes of cargo handled at seaports in seven months

The total volume of cargo handled at Vietnamese seaports is estimated to reach more than 425 million tonnes in the first seven months of2021, up 6 percent over the same period last year, according to the Vietnam Maritime Administration (VMA).
Of the figure, export cargo hit over 106 million tonnes, a year-on-yearincrease of 9 percent, while import cargo stood at roughly 133 million tonnes,up 2 percent. The handling of domestic goods neared 184 million tonnes, up 7percent year-on-year.

Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan has said that we usually gather to fight natural disasters, but when natural disasters are over, we neglect natural disaster prevention.
Nguyen Van Hat, whose house is on the bank of the Kien Giang River, in Loc Thuy commune, Le Thuy district of the central province of Quang Binh, still remembers the floods in mid-October 2020.
That day, floodwaters rose to the roof of his house. Hat and his wife were trapped on the roof. For three days, the couple had to eat raw instant noodles to survive, while their children were luckier as they were taken to the house of the commune vice chairman for shelter.

The Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture, in cooperation with the United Nations and the World Bank, organized the second national food summit dialogue in Hanoi on Friday to discuss opportunities, challenges, vulnerabilities, and gaps affecting Vietnam’s national food systems.
The aim was also to prioritize action areas for the country in order to develop responsible, sustainable, and transparent food systems by 2030, according to a press release issued by the Swedish Embassy in Hanoi.
Chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh and Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan, the event attracted the in-person and online participation of about 200 people.
