Crawley College staff and police named Keyworker Heroes by Tilgate Bakery

The bakery posted on their Facebook page: From your nominations this week, the team at Crawley College and Crawley Police were chosen. As you are aware, its has been a challenging week for the students and staff at Crawley College and for Crawley and Sussex Police. Crawley College receive their reward from Tilgate Bakery So we ve tripled what we normally deliver to our Keyworker Heroes each Friday and we delivered 60 Jam Donuts this morning. Crawley College: Parents anxious wait during gunshots lockdown

Nobody was seriously hurt at Crawley College, but after dozens of armed police sealed the area, loved-ones outside endured an anxious wait. Sharon Brumwell feared the worst after receiving a text from her daughter Ruby simply saying: I love you. The messages that followed painted a dreadful picture, she said. She was like, Mum, there s a shooting at the college .

Most of us were shaken by the firearms incident at Crawley College this week. Many of us went there, or have loved ones who work or study there now, and this was all very close to home. Major incidents like this at schools and colleges are thankfully incredibly rare, and all the more shocking for it. Armed officers attended the college after reports of shots being fired The images of armed police swarming the building will certainly stay with us. The scariest bit is often being caught up in an incident but not knowing exactly what is going on. Art student Ruby Brumwell, 16, was sent with another student to another classroom to get something when the college went into lockdown following reports of shots being fired.

Teenager, 18, charged following Crawley College incident | Meridian

Sandijs Dreimanis, 18, has been named by police and appeared at Crawley Magistrates’ Court earlier. Students and staff had to be evacuated with their hands on their heads after shots rang out at Crawley College, West Sussex, on Monday. The heroics of one teacher and their colleague, who were injured tackling an armed suspect, were lauded by police and the college praised the actions of the emergency services. On Wednesday morning Sussex Police announced that Dreimanis, of Barton Walk in Crawley, has been charged with possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and possession of a bladed article on a school premises.
