In the niche world of customers for high-end semiconductors, a bitter feud is pitting bitcoin miners against hardcore gamers. At issue is the latest line of NVIDIA graphics cards powerful, cutting-edge chips with the computational might to display the most advanced video game graphics on the market.
Gamers want the chips so they can experience ultra-realistic lighting effects in their favorite games. But they can’t get their hands on NVIDIA cards, because miners are buying them up and adapting them to crunch cryptographic codes and harvest digital currency. The fierce competition to buy chips combined with a global semiconductor shortage has driven resale prices up as much as 300%, and led hundreds of thousands of desperate consumers to sign up for daily raffles for the right to buy chips at a significant mark-up.

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 standard variants were able to deliver up to 100-110 MH/s in ETH while the RTX 3070 nets you around 55-60 MH/s in ETH. But with half hash rate, you can expect an RTX 3080 to end up around a 3070 deliver less than 50 MH/s & the 3070 to fall below 30 MH/s, as reported by GALAX itself. This would mean that cryptocurrency miners will have to look for other more profitable graphics chips such as the CMP (Cryptocurrency Mining Processor) lineup from NVIDIA.

Nvidia is trying again to limit the use of its RTX 3060 graphics cards for mining Ethereum, with a new update once again adding a hash limiter to the GPU, via
.
If that sounds familiar to you, that’s because it’s not the first time that Nvidia has tried to nerf mining performance on the RTX 3060 the company first rolled out new drivers that were intended to limit the hash rate of Ethereum mining by around 50 percent in February.
“We designed GeForce GPUs for gamers, and gamers are clamoring for more,” says Matt Wuebbling, head of global GeForce marketing at Nvidia, in a blog post announcing the change. The company also announced a new product, the Nvidia CMP (Cryptocurrency Mining Processor), a dedicated GPU meant specifically for cryptocurrency mining.
Nvidia reportedly preparing RTX 3000 Lite Hash Rate series featuring new mining limiter
Back in February, when Nvidia launched its RTX 3060 graphics card, the company also made a couple of major announcements related to GPU mining. First, the company introduced a mining limiter via driver that cripples the Ethereum mining output of the RTX 3060, and secondly, Nvidia also launched an all-new series of dedicated mining GPUs called the Cryptocurrency Mining Processors (CMP) HX series. However, there may be more to come still.
Citing sources close to it, VideoCardz alleges that Team Green is preparing a new lineup of the RTX 30-series cards. The new series is allegedly named the RTX 3000 Lite Hash Rate (LHR) series, and it will come with a new crypto mining limiter baked in for the 30-series SKUs. So, essentially, we may expect a brand new version of the RTX 3080, the 3070, the 3060 Ti, and the 3060. There might be an RTX 3090 version too but one of VideoCardz source
