MANAMA, 3 hours, 17 minutes ago Work is moving at a steady pace on the new Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre (BIECC) in Sakhir with 30 per cent of the project already completed. The foundation stone for the BD84-million ($221 million) mega project was laid by HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince Prime Minister, in January last year. The project next to Bahrain International Circuit features exhibition halls and conference rooms fitted with the latest technology to host major shows and celebrations and seal trade transactions. The 149,000-sq-m facility will include 10 exhibition halls covering a total of 95,000 sq m and a 4,500-sq-m conference hall, in addition to attached stores and independent entrances and exits.

Organised by Bahrain Polytechnic University in collaboration with HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa Media Office, the Information & eGovernment Authority, Microsoft and Almoayyed Computers Middle East, the competition was sponsored by Ahli United Bank (Platinum), Bahrain National Gas Company (Silver) and Ithmar Bank (Silver). Among the supporters of the competition were Bahrain FinTech Bay and ThinkSmart.
