Green waste disposal set for May, June

Dates: Drop-offs on May 21-24, June 11-14 Time: 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. EASTERN COUNTY Dates: Drop-offs on May 14, June 4 and 25 Time: 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Administrative Analyst Jenn Tamo, of the Office of Emergency Services, said western county’s green waste will be sorted after participants drop it off. Once sorted into piles, the county will use a massive grinder to process the material and offer it back to the community the following weekends. Tamo said her office will have the capacity to load participants’ empty truck beds for them with recycled green waste collected from western county between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. the Friday and Saturday following the drop-offs.

Governor, legislative leaders present plan to invest half a billion dollars in wildfire prevention Lake County News reports 09 April 2021 The California Legislature and Gov. Gavin Newsom have reached an agreement that invests nearly a half-billion dollars into California’s wildfire prevention and resiliency efforts. On Thursday, Gov. Gavin Newsom, Senate President pro Tempore Toni G. Atkins (D-San Diego) and Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon (D-Lakewood) announced the $536 million funding plan to help improve California’s resilience to wildfires. “With California facing another extremely dry year, it is critical that we get a head start on reducing our fire risk. We are doing that by investing more than half a billion dollars on projects and programs that provide improved fire prevention for all parts of California,” the governor and legislative leaders said in a joint statement.
