The city previously opened its third vaccination hub last July 19 located at the third floor Events Place of VMall which can accommodate 1,000 vaccinees a day and will increase the city’s daily vaccination rate to 5,000 jabs, including jabs done at the city’s primary vaccination sites FilOil Flying V Centre and Theater Mall Cinemas 1 and 2.

San Juan City surpasses target population to achieve herd immunity

Among them were Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Francisco Duque III, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, COVID-19 testing czar Vince Dizon, and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Ramon Lopez. Zamora said that as of July 11, the city has already administered 96,610 first doses to its residents, which is equivalent to 112.18 percent of its target population to achieve herd immunity, while 29,313 residents received their second dose. Secretary Dizon and Secretary Duque lauded the LGU for its fast and efficient vaccination program.

He added that the city now only needs to vaccinate 11,413 more individuals or around 13 percent of the target population. The city government intends to give the eligible population their first dose in the middle of July and have everyone fully vaccinated by August. “At the rate we’re going, I believe these targets are achievable as long as constant supply would be on hand, I don’t think there will be any problem,” Zamora said.

In a statement, Mayor Francis Zamora said that, as of June 25, 63,950 individuals out of its 85,400 target population already received their first COVID-19 vaccine dose. Of this number, over 18,000 individuals or 21% of the city s target population already got their second and were therefore fully vaccinated against COVID-19. We are targeting to reach 100% by middle of July. We are targeting to vaccinate 100% of the target population with two doses by end of August, Zamora said.
