Participants from Australia and Greece shared first-hand accounts of Greek language learning and benefits experienced, in an online conversation co-organised by the Macquarie University Greek Studies Program and the University’s Greek Association (MUGA).
Titled ‘Pathway stories in careers through Greek language’ the event was held last week ahead of the International Greek Language Day commemorated annually on 9 February.
Both current students and graduates joined in the event, featuring an extensive list of guest speakers, including the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs Secretary General John Chrysoulakis, the Consul General of Greece in Sydney Christos Karras and THI Australia’s representative George Giovas.

As the number of study programs taught in a foreign language is gradually increasing in Greek universities, catering for a variety of needs ranging from bachelor degrees to short term courses and summer schools, the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs has introduced two new Student visas facilitating international students and professionals wishing to undertake part of their studies in Greece.
The new Student Visas were introduced with special legislation, created by the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in order to inject competitiveness into the Greek economy. It allows students to enter Greece using fast-track procedures. Those who stand to benefit are:

Fayez al-Saraj, the leader of the Muslim Brotherhood GNA and an ethnic Turk, signed a memorandum with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, on the delimitation of maritime zones that traverses Greece’s sovereign rights.
