According to senior executives of Transavia, Greece is currently first in terms of bookings and will most likely be the first destination in sales for Transavia this year, exceeding the demand for Spain and Portugal. “This is why Transavia has increased the estimated number of passengers to our country for 2021 and has boosted capacity to 1,100,000 seats,” the tourism ministry said.

According to an announcement by the Greek Tourism Ministry, the two ministers will discuss the terms of lifting travel restriction between England and Greece in the near future. Theoharis will also meet with senior executives of Great Britain’s three leading airlines, namely British Airways, easyJet and Jet2.

The announcement follows an agreement made between Greek Tourism Minister Harry Theoharis and representatives of LOT that sees the carrier expanding its flight schedule to Greece for 2021. The Warsaw-based Star Alliance airline this summer will connect Poznan with Thessaloniki; Katowice with Heraklion (Crete); and Gdansk with Rhodes. “These are routes that will be added to LOT’s expanded program for Greece, which is more enhanced than that of 2019,” Theoharis said, underlining that the agreement with the airline will contribute to boosting tourist arrivals to Greece this summer.

The announcement follows a meeting held on Tuesday in Berlin between Greek Tourism Minister Harry Theoharis and representatives of the German tourism group, Sebastian Ebel, member of the Executive Board and Thomas Ellerbeck, member of the Executive Committee. According to the announcement, TUI will relaunch its activities in Greece from May 14 and 15 with flights carried out by TUIfly to the airports of Heraklion, Araxos, Corfu, Rhodes and Kos. More specifically, according to the company’s schedule, TUIfly will start flights to Heraklion, Crete, on May 14, with departures from six airports (Hannover, Munich, Stuttgart, Dusseldorf, Cologne and Frankfurt). Flights from Germany to Greece will continue the next day, on May 15, to the islands of Kos, Rhodes and Corfu.
