Speaking during the
Virtual Greek Panorama online event on Thursday, Fragakis said that indications for this year’s tourism season are not the best at the moment due to the possibility of a third wave of the coronavirus (Covid-19) hitting Europe.
“At the moment the level of bookings is extremely low, but I believe that if we manage to get through the first half of 2021, the first signs of an improvement will begin to appear with the first arrivals and perhaps a very high percentage of last minute bookings,” the GNTO’s secretary general said.
Following updates he has received from the GNTO’s 14 offices abroad, Fragakis said that it appears that
honored country at the international art exhibition titled
“The tides of the century”, which is scheduled to take place this year during February 8 – December 8 in the Hainan province of
China.
The international art exhibition will showcase over 140 works by more than 80 artists from 23 countries around the world. Its opening will coincide with the inauguration of Hainan’s
Ocean Flower, a man-made island created with the aim to become an international tourism destination.
Greece will participate with its own exhibition titled,
“Thesis, antithesis, synthesis: in the belt of change”, which will take place under the auspices of the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) following a decision by its president, Angela Gerekou.

The Ministry of Tourism and the Greek National Tourism Organisation (GNTO) has won top awards for the mobile phone application Visit Greece, developed by GNTO and Warply with the support of Mastercard and Eurobank, at the e-volution Awards 2021.
The Visit Greece app won a Platinum award as best app in the category of Specialised Practices and Strategy, as well as a Gold award as “Best Mobile app” of the year in the same category and a Gold award as “Best in Travel & Tourism” in the E-commerce and e-business category. It is noted that the application has also been distinguished in Mobile Excellence Awards 2020 with the Gold Award in the Mobile Digital Transformation section, according to an announcement.
