Elena Dinverno said she also received a case-and-desist letter from the Rochester Community Schools over her actions. She filed a lawsuit Monday against the district, saying she faced illegal retaliation for expressing free speech. Dinverno alleges that in December she was fired as marketing director at Blake s Hard Cider in Armada after school board president Kristin Bull contacted her boss. Bull is an employee of Crain Communications Inc., the publisher of Crain s Detroit Business, where she manages custom marketing content.

Tire Business wins four Crain awards AKRON Tire Business coverage of the COVID-19 pandemic was among four entries that won awards in the Crain Communications Inc. Editorial Contest, which rewarded outstanding journalism within the company s stable of publications during 2020. Tire Business took first place in four of five categories in the contest, competing against other publications of roughly the same size within the international company. The COVID-19 coverage in the March 30, 2020, edition won first place in the Best Package: Art, Multimedia & Writing category, featuring stories from every member of the Tire Business staff.
