Wednesday s COVID vaccination clinic postponed Kirksville Daily Express Wednesday’s mass COVID-19 vaccination clinic has been postponed. The Adair County Health Department issued a release Tuesday about the change, saying there were logistical problems. The event was supposed to take place at the NEMO Fairgrounds but was then moved to Kirksville High School due to expected frigid temperatures. “We thank the R-III Schools administration for trying to address the massive logistics of an event like this, but we will need to move to another venue,” said Jim LeBaron, Adair County Health Department administrator, in the release. The health department will announce a new location, dates and other information within the next 48 hours.

Three new MSHP Troopers assigned to Troop B Linn County Leader Three new troopers have been assigned to The Missouri State Highway Patrol’s (MSHP) Troop B, according to Captain Erik A. Gottman, commanding officer of Troop B, Macon. Trooper Cole T. Hinshaw, Trooper Nicholas C. Keller and Trooper Cody J. Snyder have been assigned to Troop B. Hinshaw, Keller and Snyder were members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s 110th Recruit Class that began training on Aug. 3, 2020, and graduated from the Patrol Academy on Jan. 20. The new troopers from the 110th Recruit Class will report for duty on Feb. 16.

County COVID-19 Report As the 2020 year ended there were a total cases of 1,716 persons in Randolph County who tested positive for the COVID-19 virus according to the county health department s report issued Dec. 31. On that final December day, there were 80 active cases, 11 persons hospitalized, 1,611 persons had been released from isolation and 25 deaths attributed to the coronavirus the report indicated. The Wednesday, Jan. 6 COVID-19 report issued by the Randolph County Health Department showed that a total of 1,782 persons in the county had the virus since testing were first documented last March. This means there has been 66 new cases recorded during the first six days of the year 2021, and there has been one more death.

It’s remarkable that we have it and are able to give it : COVID-19 vaccine arrives in Adair County Lori Guffey is starting to see some light trickle out of a dark tunnel.  She, the clinic supervisor and communicable disease specialist at the Adair County Health Department, was one of many workers on hand Monday as the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine was distributed in Kirksville. Adair County was one of 10 in the state to receive doses and began administering them at the NEMO Fairgrounds. The department received 975 doses last week and Jim LeBaron, administrator of ACHD, said about 940 people had signed up to get it as of Monday afternoon. The first doses are going to workers in health care and nursing homes, as well as first responders and teachers.
