KOPPEL – Owners of two Beaver County steel plants will restart activities and expand workforce at the sites in the coming months.
Tenaris U.S. President Luca Zanotti last week toured the company’s Koppel melt shop and Harmony Township seamless tube mill, informing employees of plans to bring both plants back online this summer. Tenaris expects about 250 employees will be recalled or hired at the mills.
Koppel’s facility produces seamless oil-country tubular goods, drill pipe and line pipe used in oil and natural gas. In May, Tenaris will complete a $15 million-upgrade to increase Koppel’s steel bar size capabilities and improve safety and automation systems.
