Dec 31, 2020 8:00 PM A star-studded New Year s Eve presented by the Long Island Music Hall of Fame will air this evening at 9 p.m. ET on the local Long Island, New York, channel News 12 Plus. It also will stream on the station s official Facebook page . The 90-minute program, dubbed Best of the Awards Galas , will feature highlights from past Long Island Music Hall of Fame induction ceremonies held from 2006 through 2018, including performances, speeches, behind-the-scenes moments and more. Talking Heads, Salt-N-Pepa and more to receive Lifetime Achievement Grammys

Talking Heads and Salt-N-Pepa are among those set to receive Lifetime Achievement Awards at next year’s Grammys.
The Recording Academy announced its 2021 Special Merit Awards early this morning (December 22). Other Lifetime Achievement honourees include: Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five, Lionel Hampton, Marilyn Horne and Selena.
Ed Cherney, Benny Golson and Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds are Trustees Award honourees, while Daniel Weiss is the Technical Grammy Award recipient.

“As we welcome the new class of Special Merit Award honorees, it gives us a chance to reward and recognise the influence they’ve had in the music community regardless of genre,” said Harvey Mason Jr., Interim President/CEO of the Recording Academy.

Lifetime Achievement Awards:
Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five: The group was formed in the South Bronx in 1978. The group, which was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2007, consisted of Grandmaster Flash, Melle Mel, The Kidd Creole, Keef Cowboy, Mr. Ness/Scorpio and Rahiem. The group was praised for its use of turntablism, break-beat deejaying, choreographed stage routines, and lyricism. The group’s 1982 classic “The Message” was voted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2012.
