Michigan now has 54 known cases of delta COVID-19 variant

View Comments As the U.S. edges closer to normal and people return to restaurants, movie theaters, parties, summer festivals and fairs, what s likely the most contagious strain of coronavirus to date has been gaining ground nationally, and now accounts for an estimated 51% of infections. Trinity Health to require COVID-19 vaccines for staff, contractors

A series of rolling deadlines have been established for those who have yet to get vaccinated, though most sites will require staff to submit proof of vaccination by Sept. 21. Exemptions will be available for religious or health reasons and must be formally requested, documented and approved.  Nearly 75% of Trinity Health employees have already gotten at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine so far. Employees who do not meet criteria for exemption and fail to show proof of vaccination will be fired. The health system also announced that if federal health authorities recommend a COVID-19 vaccine booster in the future, workers will need to submit proof showing that they got the booster dose.
