Who is Bela Karolyi?
A skilled athlete and a national junior boxing champion, Bela Karolyi was born in Hungary on September 13, 1942. He pursued the study of gymnastics at the Romania College of Physical Education. During his college senior year, he was assigned to coach the women s gymnastics team, where he first met his future wife Marta Eross.
After the wedding in 1963, the couple moved to a small town and together launched a gymnastics class at a local elementary school. They rose through fame as the government invited them to create a national school for gymnastics. In the late 1960s, Bela Karolyi started coaching the six-year-old Nadia Comaneci.
Her organisation represents a vast range of establishments from South Canterbury to Otematata. While feedback she had received suggested hospitality patronage was down by up to 30 per cent compared to last summer, she said the region is lucky in having “such a diverse range of businesses and people are still in employment and doing well”. “That flows into the hospitality sector,’’ Phillips said. “It’s challenging not just for old pubs, it’s in everyday life.’’

Demolition of former Radioisotope Development Lab underway at Oak Ridge
OAK RIDGE, Tenn. – DOE’s Oak Ridge Office of Environmental Management (OREM) and contractor UCOR have begun removing the two remaining structures at the former Radioisotope Development Lab at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL).
“This project launches our next phase of major demolition and cleanup at ORNL,” said Nathan Felosi, OREM’s portfolio federal project director for ORNL. “Our work is eliminating contaminated structures, like this one, that are on DOE’s list of high-risk facilities and clearing space for future research missions.”
