DRIVER SHORTAGE: Districts cope with bus driver shortage

School starts in just a few weeks and there aren’t enough bus drivers.School districts are trying to fill the gaps. It’s a universal problem. Many parents rely on drivers to get their children to and from school safely. Edmond Public Schools needs 30 drivers for the upcoming school year. “We’re just waving at everybody to get them in here,” said Edmond bus driver Anna Brown. “Urgent – we really need people right away,” said her colleague, LaTiqua Zeigler. “I have got honks today, I ve got trucks to honk at us today. That was the excitement of the da,” Brown said.But what the two really need are more people to step up.“We are looking for people to come apply for either a school bus driver or a monitor for Edmond Public Schools,” Brown said. “Every day as a school bus driver, I go pick up kids.
