Unfortunately, by ending their school liaison programs, school trustees in Vancouver and New Westminster have missed an invaluable teachable moment. By ending a program that encourages a positive relationship between police officers and students, school trustees have effectively joined society’s “cancel culture” phenomenon. Reasons for ending the program included concerns that “uniformed officers make some students anxious or upset, including many identifying as Black, Indigenous, or people of colour.” In addition, the 2020 murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis by police officer Derek Chauvin and the resulting global spotlight on excessive force by police officers were cited as contributing factors to the trustees’ decision.

The National Junior College Athletic Association is bringing its football championship games to Little Rock s War Memorial Stadium for the next three years, state and city tourism officials announced Friday.
This contract amounts to four games because the association altered its schedule for this year’s season because of the pandemic. The first game at War Memorial is set for June 5. The others will be played this December then in December 2022 and 2023.
Gretchen Hall, president and CEO of the Little Rock Convention & Visitors Bureau, said it partnered with the Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism to beat out 12 other sites for this contract.

A SOUTHAMPTON man with a string of driving convictions has been banned from the roads. Tony Baker drove like an idiot and was in danger of killing somebody when he jumped red lights in Southampton, warned a crown court judge. The 66-year-old had been spotted driving a white van by officers in an unmarked patrol car in the Shirley ward of the city. Prosecution barrister Alex Williams said how a police camera “showed that the driver was subject to a disqualification. “They made attempts to request the vehicle to stop.” However, Baker of Coxford Drove, Southampton sped off. Mr Williams added how he “accelerated away from the police vehicle through a red traffic light where a pedestrian was about to cross the road.”
