Small La Invernada house glows in Chilean forest at night

Small La Invernada cabin glows in Chilean forest at night This house by Chilean studio Guillermo Acuña Arquitectos Asociados has mesh and polycarbonate walls to reflect the shadows of trees in daytime and light up at night. Guillermo Acuña Arquitectos Asociados designed the 54-square-metre house to blend into its location in an area of Curicó, Chile, with a forest on one side and a river on the other. Golden mesh cloaks polycarbonate and wood walls The project was conceived as an object that doesn t belong to the site, that can disappear at any moment, and that talks to us of a transitory condition of occupation of the forest, said Guillermo Acuña Arquitectos Asociados (GAAA).

To give more privacy to the bedrooms in relation to this social and activity space, small patios are proposed as buffers. They are projected from the exterior of the house towards the interior, forming two semi-open spaces creating the barbecue area and an outdoor living room for the master bedroom. The structure of the house is fully modulated and beams and pillars are exposed defining a rhythm along the north and south facades with a character of dock-type walkways to which a series of wooden lattices are added, playing with the movement of the sun during the day.

Dezeen s top eight Chilean houses of 2020

Dezeen s top eight Chilean houses of 2020 Some of the year s most varied houses, including homes with undulating concrete roofs, bright yellow windbreakers and wonky skylights, were in Chile. US editor Eleanor Gibson selects eight of the best Chilean houses to continue our review of 2020. Tokyo firm Office of Ryue Nishizawa created this home on a promontory towards the Pacific Ocean, topping it with a wave-shaped roof to follow the contours of the site. Resting on glass walls that offer expansive views of the surroundings, the monolithic roof segments the areas inside the long house. This includes a sauna, a bedroom and living room, and a kitchen and dining room adjoining a terrace at the rear.
