Even before the Grammy Awards telecast kicked off at 8 p.m. Sunday, Beyoncé was closing in on the record for most total Grammys ever won by a female artist. Billie Eilish, Megan Thee Stallion, Lady Gaga, and Kanye West were also poised for a big showing, following an afternoon ceremony in which awards for most of this year’s 83 categories were given out before the big show began.
The telecast itself, hosted by Trevor Noah of The Daily Show and staged at various locations in Los Angeles with some nominees joining in person and other virtually got off to an unconventional start, with Noah positioned outdoors in a lot across the street from the awards show’s usual home at the Staples Center.

Kanye West were among the early Grammy winners on Sunday (14Mar21), as they picked up honours at the virtual Premiere Ceremony.
Beyonce and Blue Ivy claimed the Best Music Video prize for Brown-Skinned Girl while Kanye landed the Best Contemporary Christian Music Album award for Jesus Is King .
Beck was among the group that claimed the Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical for Hyperspace, Billie Eilish and her brother
In September 2020, ‘Ye didn’t have the greatest of relationships with the Grammys. During one of his numerous Twitter rants, the “Drive Slow” rapper and producer decided to look at one of his 21 Grammy Awards, drop it in the toilet and urinate on it.
Urinating on the trophy wasn’t seen as ideal according to some of ‘Ye’s peers, including LL Cool J, who hosted the Grammys telecast for many years for CBS. Perhaps Yeezy won’t take this particular trophy and urinate on it since he won it in the name of the Lord.

The 63rd Grammy Awards began Sunday afternoon, teasing their evening telecast with a live premiere event hosted by three-time Grammy nominee Jhené Aiko, in which the R&B singer revealed many of this year s winners, from best rap performance (Megan Thee Stallion) to best gospel album for Kanye West s Jesus is King (he did not make an appearance to accept the award).
