Lindy was from Landbeach and I met her whilst an undergraduate at Jesus College in Cambridge. Our wedding reception was held in the garden of Lindy’s mother’s house in Landbeach and many of the photographs were taken there.
“The photos were taken by Lettice Ramsey and her company, Ramsey and Muspratt, was quite famous in Cambridge at the time, taking portrait pictures of many of the city’s best-known names. I did some online research and found that Ramsey and Muspratt had donated their negatives to the Cambridgeshire Collection in the 1980s.
“I emailed the council s Libraries service more in hope than expectation to ask whether they still had the negatives.

Understanding Violence and Political Markets in Africa and the Middle East The Media Line Staff
After four years of researching violence, conflict and across Africa and the Middle East, what have we learned?
About this Event
The Conflict Research Programme has been investigating the logics of war and peace across five countries in the Middle East and Africa over the last four years. Findings cover the link between extremist identity politics and political marketplaces, the countervailing role of civicness, and ‘what works’ external interventions in such areas as security, humanitarian need or localised conflict resolution. Producing high-quality research published in academic journals alongside policy analysis to the UK government, the programme boasts a range of outputs that has the potential to shape academic debate and the development landscape.

Maj Gen Anton Muttukumaru was a barrister, soldier and diplomat who loved collecting walking sticks. He was known for being charming and shrewd, had a talent for mimicry, and was once driven to Ascot to join the Queen because she was too busy enjoying the races to meet him at Buckingham Palace.
Born in Ceylon (now Sri Lanka), Muttukumaru was the Queen’s aide-de-camp in 1954.
Now, almost 70 years on, and with the royal family caught in a race storm in the wake of the Oprah Winfrey interview with Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Muttukumaru’s son Christopher spoke to the Guardian about his father’s experiences.
