The University of Lynchburg is announcing the launch of a collaboration between school and city leaders. “Lynchburg Tomorrow started with the convening of just five people one Saturday morning late last year,” University of Lynchburg President Alison Morrison-Shetlar said. School and city leaders have spent the past year coming up with a three-part plan to make a difference in the Hill City. The plan involves several organizations in the community.

Church members donate labor to Elizabethton Parks

ELIZABETHTON — Riverside Park, a facility of the Parks and Recreation Department of the City of Elizabethton, came in for some tender loving care last weekend. The department’s director, Mike Mains, said his staff got plenty of help during the Friends of the Park Service Day on Saturday. He said his department “teamed up with the Johnson City Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints” on a project that included “the planting of knockout roses, the mulching of flower beds and volunteers picking up trash and other debris along the banks of the Watauga.” Church member Emily Baddley said about 25 members from the church participated.

Mom, dad plead for help in search for missing daughter Noemi Bolivar     HOLLYWOOD, Florida (WFOR) A devastated mother and father are pleading for the public’s help in the search for their 21-year-old daughter, who they say vanished without a trace from Anne Kolb Nature Center in Hollywood last Thursday. Marycel and Jose Bolivar told CBS4’s Peter D’Oench that their daughter, Noemi Bolivar, was last heard from in a Snapchat. They are worried about her safety since they say no one has heard from her in four days, adding she has never disappeared like this before. The parents shared cellphone video of their daughter with CBS4, along with a montage of photographs and a new flyer they have been passing out during several organized searches of the area, starting at Anne Kolb Nature Center.
