19+ Lehigh Valley groups benefit from Martin Guitar Foundation grants

More than 19 nonprofit groups are benefitting from hundreds of thousands in funds distributed by the Martin Guitar Charitable Foundation.
The foundation, which Christian Frederick Martin IV began in 1996, annually distributes funds to support programs. A total of 55 area and national businesses were named as recipients during the December 2020 Board of Directors meeting.
This year’s grants mark a quarter century of giving. Since inception, the foundation has distributed about $3.7 million in grants, including $380,000 in 2020.
The foundation’s core principles are to support Martin Guitar’s engagement with nonprofit music, arts, education, environmental action and human service organizations. Guitars, displayed here in the Bach to Rock “Guitar Room,” have been a particular favorite over the years, with the shop selling various brands and models, including Alvarez, Ibanez, and Austin instruments. Other modern guitar-inventing pioneers included Orville Gibson, Leo Fender, and Les Paul.
